Nottingham Forest are hoping for a first home win of the season against Crystal Palace on Monday to build on their strong start.
The reds have been dealt no favours by the Premier League as next week they host Crystal Palace on Monday (October 21) before a trip to local rivals and former manager Steve Cooper’s Leicester City on Friday (October 25).
The Reds face both games without key figures on the field and in the dugout.
Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo has been given a three match touchline ban for misconduct following the draw with Chelsea and Morgan Gibbs-White also has a one game ban for misconduct.
Forest sit 10th after the international break with an impressive start to the season featuring wins over Liverpool and a well-earned point last time out away at Chelsea.
Despite the strong start, they are still without a win at the City Ground following draws against Bournemouth and Wolves and a loss to Fulham.
Speaking at today’s pre-match press conference (October 18) Nuno said: “We want to try and perform better here at home with the help of our fans and this is what we want to do on Monday.
“Now is a chance to improve, I think we have to approach the game better,” he added.
Midfielder Elliott Anderson impressed on international duty with the England under-21s side as he was man of the match and scored his first England goal in their game against Azerbaijan.
Reds defender Nico Williams also earned himself a man of the match award on international duty with Wales.
Nuno said: “We have a lot of decisions to make, options and solutions.
“Many of our players went away on international duty some of them with good performances that give us good solutions for the game,” he added.
Mondays opponents Crystal Palace have had a slow start to the season as they sit 18th and are without a league win.
Palace manager Oliver Glasner has since come under fire at the South London club, with the German’s job rumoured to be on the line.
Morgan Gibbs-White did not train yesterday with Nuno saying the midfielder is “still recovering” after injuring his ankle against Chelsea and will likely be unavailable for Friday’s visit to Leicester when his ban expires.
Forest’s last game against Monday’s opponents finished in a 1-1 draw with Jean-Phillippe Mateta giving Palace the lead before Chris Wood equalised for the reds in the second half.
Nuno will come up against summer transfer target Eddie Nketiah at the City Ground as they take on Crystal Palace on Monday (October 21) at 8pm.
