James Ward-Prowse has left Nottingham Forest and returned to his parent club West Ham United following the termination of his loan deal.
The England international signed a season-long loan on August 30 2025 as one of two deadline day signings for the reds, going on to make five starts in the Premier League and four appearances off the bench, alongside an FA Cup start against Luton Town in Forest’s third round 2-0 win in which he got an assist.
Ward-Prowse initially joined West Ham in Summer 2023 from boyhood club Southampton and later made 53 appearances for the Hammers in all competitions, claiming seven goals and 11 assists.
Both clubs have mutually agreed to terminate the loan prematurely, which will see him leave the City Ground immediately.
He will return to the London Stadium to play under new manager Graham Potter, having left on loan after making one league appearance this season under old boss Julen Lopetegui, meaning that the 30-year-old will stay in East London due to being unable to play for three clubs in a season.
The midfielder did not feature in the matchday squad for Forest’s most recent game, a 7-0 thumping victory at home against Brighton.
