Notttingham Forest striker Chris Wood and head coach Nuno Espírito Santo have been awarded Premier League player of the month and manager of the month respectively after an impressive October.

Ahead of Nottingham Forest’s fixture on Sunday (November 10) against Newcastle, the team sit in an impressive third place.

The Reds ended October with crucial wins against Crystal Palace and Leicester City and a tough away draw against Chelsea.

Wood scored four goals across the three games, and after another goal at the start of November against West Ham, he sits joint second top goal scorer in the league with eight – only behind Manchester City’s Erling Haaland on 11.

Ahead of the visit of Newcastle on Sunday (KO 2pm) Head Coach Nuno spoke on the importance of Wood to the team – not only for his goal threat.

He said: “He’s more than the goals, its all what he represents without the ball and with the ball he links and puts everyone together, his presence in the dressing room as a leader.”

Forest’s results in the first ten games of the season match Leicester City’s opening ten in the 2015/16 season – when the Foxes miraculously won the league.

However, when Nuno was asked about the ambition of the season, he said: “We have to stay humble.

“My ambition is tomorrow and I also truly believe the players feel the same way, we cannot get distracted.

“Newcastle is such a good team coming from a great result last weekend its going to be hard, but this is what we are looking forward to.”

Newcastle arrive at the City Ground off the back of an impressive win at home against Arsenal last week – looking to upset Forest’s four match unbeaten run before the international break.
