Antony Costa spoke to Notts TV about preparing, unwinding and guilty pleasures ahead of his headline performances in theatre.

Save The Last Dance For Me kicked off its Nottingham leg of its tour yesterday (Monday August 22) at Theatre Royal and is also on for the next five nights.

The story is set in 1963 and follows two girls who go on holiday without their parents for the first time to the seaside.

The two girls meet two men from the air force, one of which is played by Antony Costa, in the musical.

Antony likes to get to the theatre early to get himself prepared for performing in the shows especially with his performance involving having to put an accent on.

We know we’ve done our job when people go away with smiles

He said: “I just like to mentally prepare myself for the performance by going through my songs and my lines.

“It’s so good performing in front of these crowds and last night they couldn’t wait to get up at the end and start dancing.

“We see that happening and then we know we’ve done our job properly as people go away with a smile on their faces.”

I’ve been watching Celebrity Big Brother and I can’t help it

Antony also spoke about his guilty pleasures.

He said: “I’ve been watching Celebrity Big Brother and I can’t help it; I’ve been catching up on that, it’s done my head in!

“I came here at 12 today so I could come and watch it and it’s near the ending so I don’t know what I’ll watch afterwards!

“I know a couple of people in it so I’ve been rooting for them; Ricky’s been doing well and he’s a fellow Spurs fan so touch wood he wins it.”
