G4S has resubmitted plans to open a new children’s care home in Nuthall to house five children.
The world’s largest security firm, G4S previously submitted an application in March to turn 1A Roland Avenue into a care home, but it was dropped after overwhelming opposition from residents.
Applications for other homes in Kirkby-in-Ashfield and Worksop have been withdrawn.
But now G4S has resubmitted its request for the sites in Nuthall and Worksop and has planned to hold public meetings to persuade neighbouring residents to back the plan.
Paul Simpson Councillor for Nuthall East and Strelley of Broxtowe Borough Council, admitted that G4S will have a big job on their hands in order to persuade residents to back the scheme.

He noted that residents were very concerned about the type of children that would be housed there and that the reputation of other G4S run children’s homes made the “elderly residents concerned about the loss of amenity to their properties.”
Paul Cook, Managing Director of G4S Children’s Homes, said: “We’re working with Nottinghamshire County Council to ensure that children who need support can live as close to their local communities as possible.
We all have a responsibility to provide safe, positive environments for children from all backgrounds.

“I can reassure the local community that before we submit any future planning application we will give residents the opportunity to find out the facts and speak to our team about the plans.”
Colleen Clark, of Roland Avenue, who is looking to sell her house said that she had not been informed beforehand about the proposed scheme.
She said: “It’s a lovely community, I think people are concerned about crime, all the naughty things that teenagers get involved in, its mostly unknown, there’s not a lot to worry about.
“I shall be attending the next consultation meeting and I expect a good turnout.”
G4S is holding a public exhibition for its planned children’s home at Meadow Holme Farm on Stubbing Lane, at the Worksop Rugby Club, Stubbing Lane on July 7 at 4:30pm.
