Game of Thrones and Emmerdale stars back Nottingham’s TV Workshop as it opens for new term

Video: Lyanna Mormont and Sam Dingle want help with the TV Workshop

Stars from Game of Thrones and Emmerdale have shown support for Nottingham’s TV Workshop – which is starting its new term after being evicted from their last premises in January.

The workshop has since moved to a studio on Canal Street but is fundraising to improve the space because of a flooding problem in the cellar.

However, that hasn’t stopped the workshop opening its doors and 250 people are now expected through every week.

Nic Harvey, director of the workshop, said: “We run an academic year the same as schools – we have the seven to 11 age group, 11-16 and 16-21.

“It was quite a quick move here as we were kicked out of our old basement which was quite dusty and quite old and falling to pieces.

“It was a bit of a blessing in disguise really and we found this incredible place.”

Speaking in a video on a Kickstarter campaign page, Bella Ramsey, who plays Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones, said: “One thing we’d like to spend money on is new sound equipment.”

James Hooton, who plays Sam Dingle in Emmerdale, said: “We could really do with some sound proofing equipment as we’re on a road.”
