A fire on Nuthall Road has left a house with a ‘severely damaged’ roof.
The house was believed to be empty at the time of fire just before 6pm on Sunday evening.
The fire was spotted by neighbour, Anna Matulova: “I was sitting by the window working on my laptop when all of a sudden I saw smoke coming from the roof.
“I thought it might be the heating, but then I checked from another room and saw the fire was intensifying every second. So I called the Fire Service.”
Firefighters were quickly on the scene to battle the blaze and remained there until 11.30pm making the area safe.
Mrs Matulova added: “The firemen were here within five minutes and were very good at controlling the situation. They were pretty amazing.”
Police had to close the stretch of road between Aspley Lane and the Ring Road causing travel disruption on Sunday night.
A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said the local authority are rehousing the occupants temporarily.
An investigation is under way to trace the cause of the fire.
