In Pictures: Heavy snow falls in Notts with temperatures not expected to top freezing

Heavy snow has fallen across Nottinghamshire with temperatures not expected to reach above freezing for the day.

The Met Office issued an amber weather warning of snow from 4am until 6pm for Sunday (December 10) for the whole of the county.

5-10cm fell across urban parts of the county with 15-20cm rurally.

East Midlands Trains Tweeted: “Our normal train service is still expected to run on all routes despite the heavy snow today.”

No snow is expected to fall next week but temperatures on Monday (December 11) are expected to only reach one degree Celsius.

The Met Office chief forecaster’s assessment said: “A spell of snow is expected over a central swathe of the UK on Sunday.

“This snow starts to develop during the early hours of Sunday with the heaviest and most persistent snow likely during Sunday morning.

“This warning has been updated to extend it a little further eastwards and full the northern limit southwards.”
