Cricket stars from all around the world took part in a charity match at Carrington cricket club to get people playing the game.

Former legends such as Pakistani captain Inzamam ul-Haq and New Zealand quick bowler Iain O’Brien took to the field in a T20 game against Carrington.

They were joined by current players such as Pakistani spinner Saeed Ajmal and former England fast bowler Sajid Mahmood.

A lot of people don’t get to see their heroes

Sajid Mahmood said: “There’s a lot of big stars coming up here to play a T20 game.

“It’s great for us and players at the Carrington club because these sorts of clubs are not really where you get stars coming and playing.

“Quite a lot of people don’t really get to see their heroes that much.”

We’re looking for this to build a base for youngsters

Gemaal Hussain, a player from Carrington, spoke about what he hoped the charity match would achieve.

He said: “The concept of our club is to excel as a club and have a really strong place in the community.

“We’re looking for this opportunity to really build a base for youngsters around Nottingham to play a good level of cricket.”
