Julie Semper murder: Man pleads guilty

24-year-old man enters guilty plea for the murder of children’s author and teacher from Mapperley who was found dead in her home.

Julie Semper, 47, died from 13 wounds, including one in her abdomen.

She was found dead at her home in Magdala Road in Mapperley Park by a friend on February 4.

James McCarthy, 24, of Collyer Road, Calverton, pleaded guilty to the murder of the children’s author.

McCarthy gave his plea by video link from prison to Nottingham Crown Court.

Ms Semper had been working at Bilborough College in Nottingham since September 2014 before her death.
