Labour holds the Gedling seat with candidate Vernon Coaker receiving a total of 20,307 votes.
Conservative’s party candidate Carolyn Abbott came in second with 17,321 votes. UKIP’s Lee Waters came third with a total of 6,930 votes.
Gedling had a 68.5 turnout with 47,998 votes cast overall.
On his goals as Gedling MP, Coaker said: “The main aims are to continue to work hard locally to give people the opportunity they need for their families.
“I also want to seek to represent in parliament the views that I have.
I am motivated by those values of fairness, social justice and greater opportunities.
He revealed that nervousness had set in during the run-up to the declaration, but ultimately he is delighted with the result.
