Man arrested after gunman opens fire on car in Old Basford

A 24-year-old man has been arrested after shots were fired at car in Old Basford.

He was detained as armed officers carried out raids in Hyson Green and Bestwood in the early hours of Friday morning (June 22) in connection with the incident.

Police say a man opened fire in the Arnold Road area, close to the Park Tavern pub, at around 3.40pm yesterday.

A Notts Police: “It is believed a number of shots were fired from what appears to be a handgun and towards another vehicle. There were no injuries.”

A car believed to be linked to the shooting was found abandoned by officers in Gayhurst Green, Old Basford.

The arrested man remains in police custody being questioned. Police said patrols are being increased in the area.
