Man charged with attempted murder following incident which closed main Sherwood road for most of Easter Sunday

A man has been charged with five offences following an incident on a main road in Sherwood which closed the route for the majority of Easter Sunday.

Zahier Bashir, 41, of Valley Road in Nottingham has been charged with attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving, possession of an offensive weapon and breach of a restraining order following the incident.

Nottinghamshire Police officers were called to an incident on Hucknall Road in Sherwood during the early hours of Sunday (April 1).

Two women, aged 23 and 44, sustained non-life threatening injuries during the attack which resulted in part of Hucknall Road being closed until 4.15pm.

Bashir appeared at Nottingham Magistrates Court on Monday (April 2).
