A man has died after being hit by a train at a level crossing in Attenborough.
British Transport Police were called to the Barton Lane level crossing shortly before 11.20am and attended alongside Notts Police and the East Midlands Ambulance Service.
A police spokesman said: “At this stage, officers are not treating the death as suspicious and enquiries are underway to understand how the man got on to the line.”
East Midlands Trains says the incident is disrupting trains on the London-Nottingham, Leicester-Nottingham-Lincoln and the Matlock-Nottingham-Newark Castle routes.
A Network Rail spokesperson said: “Following an earlier incident, train services have now resumed through Attenborough.
“We are working British Transport Police and other relevant authorities to understand the full circumstances of the incident as quickly as possible.”
A normal service is expected to resume by 3pm.
