A man has died after being struck by a car in what police are treating as a hit and run.

Emergency services were called to Hucknall Road in Carrington at around 11pm on Wednesday (November 6).

A pedestrian, aged in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene after he was hit by a car.

A cordon was in place throughout most of Thursday morning, with the road closed in both directions.

Nottinghamshire Police say the driver failed to stop after the crash, but three men – aged 21, 23 and 27 – have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Sergeant Mark Baker, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends following this tragic incident.

“This will have no doubt been incredibly distressing news for them to receive, so we are deploying specialist trained officers to offer them support at this difficult time.

“We are in the process of exploring several lines of inquiry, so would ask anyone who has information about what happened to come forward immediately.

“As well as appealing for any witnesses to contact us, we also want to hear from any drivers who were in the area at the time and may have inadvertently recorded dash-cam footage that could assist us.”

The police have asked anyone with information, dashcam or CCTV footage that could assist the investigation to call 101 quoting incident 776 of November 6.
