A man has been pronounced dead at the scene of where he was hit by a train near the Attenborough station.

British Transport Police were called to the incdient at 3.22pm and attended alongside Notts Police and the East Midlands ambulance service.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “We are now working to identify the man and contact his family.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Cross Country trains have confirmed that all lines have reopened following the incident but there could be some delays.

A spokesperson for Cross Country trains said: “Trains are returning to normal, however some services may be delayed by up to 60 minutes, cancelled or revised.

“Disruption is expected to continue until approximately 7pm.”

East Midlands Trains have made provisions for commuters affected by the disruption.

A spokesperson for East Midlands Trains said: “If you are travelling between Nottingham and London, your advance purchase ticket may be used on other trains, than booked.

“Off peak tickets may be used on other trains, than booked on the affected routes.

“Our tickets are being accepted on the NET Trams between Nottingham and Hucknall until further notice.”
