Man who stabbed victim in torso during 15-man city brawl jailed for 14 years

Job Murray,27,of Sandalwood Close, Alvaston, Derby
A man who stabbed someone in the torso during a 15-man brawl in Nottingham city centre has been jailed for 14 years.
Police on patrol spotted Job Murray swing the knife as they tried to break up the fight in Maid Marian Way.
Murray, 27, of Sandalwood Close, Alvaston, Derby, tried to throw the weapon away, but officers saw it on the ground and arrested him following the incident in the early hours of October 27 last year.
His sentence was extended to 14 years in jail, as he’d already been sentenced for another violent offence in Nottingham city centre in June 2022 and another on Talbot Street in August 2024.
Detective Chief Inspector Claire Gould, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The case highlights again how carrying and brandishing a knife in Nottinghamshire can land you an extended period behind bars.
“Violent disorder of this nature has absolutely no place in our night time economy and will not be tolerated.”
The victim of the stabbing remains unidentified, so it is unclear how seriously injured he was in the assault.
