Mansfield Town FC donate kit to African children

Children in Sierra Leone are being supported by Mansfield Town Football Club after receiving football kit.

The clothing was sent via the 167 Catering Support Regiment of the Royal Logistic Corps, a regiment that the team joined up with following an Ebola breakout that occurred in July 2014.

The breakout resulted in schools across the West African country to be closed, and they only reopened around five months ago.

The team have donated around 60 items of clothes in total, including shirts, training tops, socks and shorts.

Mansfield Town’s operations director Tina Broughton said: “We were keen to make good use of the stock which has been left over from our previous league season and our thoughts turned to people, children especially, who wouldn’t be able to afford material of this quality.”

“We hope it can make a difference for some of the children of Sierra Leone, after an unimaginably difficult past”.
