A Nippi mobility trike similar to the one stolen.

Thieves stole a wheelchair-accessible scooter and left it damaged on a Notts industrial estate.

The black Nippi Sport 125 mobility trike was taken from Bentinck Street in Sutton-in-Ashfield between 6.00pm and 9.00pm on Thursday, November 10.

Two hooded white youths were seen riding it and were spotted driving past Sutton Parkway railway station toward Sutton Junction at 9.20pm.

It was later found abandoned on Hamilton Road, between Newark Road and Coxmoor Road with electrical and body work damage.

The trike is designed to carry wheelchair users and has a drop-down ramp at the back.

The victim, who asked to remain anonymous, said he wished to “thank all callers” who had followed the vehicle, which lead to its recovery.

PC Simon Cantrill, of Nottinghamshire Police said: “Unfortunately due to this theft the owner is now without transport for several weeks and is now confined to his electric wheelchair, which has a limited charge.”

Nottinghamshire Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them on 101, quoting incident number 845 of November 10 2016.

They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may caught the trike on a dashcam while it was being ridden by the thieves.
