Murder charge after man dies in hospital following Meadows stabbing

A man has been charged with murder after another man died in hospital a week after being stabbed in the Meadows.

Emergency services were called to Causeway Mews at 9.43pm on Monday, November 5, following reports a man had been stabbed in the chest.

He taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham with serious injuries. Police say the man died in hospital during the early hours of Tuesday (November 13).

Shaun Gary Thomson, 27, of Causeway Mews, was later charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

Mr Thomson had previously been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, but this was changed following the death.

He has now been remanded in custody to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on December 5.

The man who died has been formally identified as 37-year-old Neil Thomson.

Notts Police did not make the death and murder charge public until Thursday (November 15).
