People living in part of Sherwood say they feel the area is being neglected after bins were left overflowing and piles of rubbish were dumped on streets.
Katriona Skrimshire, the owner of Roots Natural Food on Spondon Street, posted on the local Sherwood community group about the problem.
“Spondon street is having trouble with fly tipping of rubbish,” she said.
“Twice there has been a large amount of domestic rubbish dumped very near my shop entrance.”
She pleaded in her post: “Whoever is responsible, please have some respect for the local area and dispose of your rubbish responsibly.”
She added in an interview with Notts TV: “They clearly have no respect for the environment because there is stuff in there that can be recycled.”
Babita Mundra, a Sherwood local walking her dog, said: “I’ve seen a lot of rubbish and I’ve seen mainly a lot of broken glass which is more of a concern because of dogs and there’s children walking around on the pavement.”
The 53-year-old added she thinks the issue has worsened and that “the council isn’t doing its job”.
She said: “It feels like Sherwood is a bit neglected.”
Natalie Williamson, 45, works in The Sherwood pub and said the “disgusting” issue “lets the area down completely.”
She said: “Recently it’s gotten really bad. Something needs to be sorted out and I have no clue why it’s not top priority.”
Sue Cuthbert, 68, a former Sherwood resident who was visiting the area, said: “We used to have more respect for where we used to live. I’ve seen a lack of that in the past few years.”
Nottingham City Council, which is responsible for street cleaning and waste collection in the area, has been contacted for comment.
