New Notts County boss: “I hope to bring passion and desire to team”

New Notts County manager Jamie Fullarton has promised to bring winning ways back to Meadow Lane despite his lack of full league management experience.

The 41-year-old faced the media for the first time at Meadow Lane on Monday afternoon in a series of one-on-one interviews.

His appointment was announced on Sunday after club chairman Ray Trew said he had ‘captivated’ an interview panel.

When asked what his immediate aims for the season are he said: “Win games, improve the goals against record. Believe. Trust. These are words that are banded about.

“But passion, enthusiasm and desire is what I bring because I’m relentless to be successful.”

Fullarton takes charge for the Magpies following the sacking of Dutchman Ricardo Moniz, and was a surprise choice.

Of the club he said: “Not only has it a history, but also it has a vision. My job is to mirror that on the pitch, to make sure we perform.

“Since I was a player I wanted to get into league club management.

“You must be ‘at it’ you must be ready to improve and evolve. You must be focussed, that’s what I’m going to bring to the club.”

When asked concern some fans have shown about this lack of full league management experience, he said: “The principles of football are the same, whether its league two or Champions League. My job is to apply those principles.”

Formerly in charge of Forest’s under-21 side, the ex-Scottish international comes with a reputation for developing young talent.

As a player he appeared for several clubs including Crystal Palace and Bastia in France.

County currently sit 18th in League 2, and travel to Crawley on Saturday.
