A Nottingham British Superbikes rider has said he is gunning for glory ahead of the first race of the season next week.

Nottingham rider Ben Godfrey has his eyes on the top British Superbikes title with the season getting underway at Donington Park on Friday March 31.

The first test took place in mixed conditions yesterday (Wednesday March 22) at Donington Park.

Ben Godfrey said: “My whole life is dedicated to racing – my Dad has been completely committed to me since the start of my racing career.

“My whole family have suffered to get me to where I am.

“I definitely want to make the top five along with a few podiums throughout the season but there’s no reason why we can’t win the championship.”

A new Nottingham team is also taking to the tarmac this year in the form of Microlise Crosswell Racing.

Lead rider Asher Durham said: “I started when I was seven and I used to watch racing because my Dad had a road bike.

“He showed it to me on TV and I was hooked straight away.

“My confidence is high, we’ve got a good package and there’s a lot to come after our first test today.

“It was nice to be back on the bike for the first time in ages but it handles differently to my other bike – it’s better and quicker and we’re aiming to win the championship which we should do.”
