A Nottinghamshire florist has created ‘The Garden Bed’ at the Chelsea Flower Show to target the show’s themes of health, happiness and horticulture.

The ‘bed’ was inspired by a hospice garden designed by Stephen Welch in Guernsey that allowed patients beds to be wheeled into the garden.

English Master Florist, Alison Doxey, from Worksop is working alongside lifelong friend Stephen, a chartered landscape architect from Grantham.

Mrs Doxey, said on her website: “I have always believed that nature and plants have a massive impact on people’s health and well-being.

“My dream has always been to create a garden for RHS Chelsea, it followed that it should be one which incorporates my vision for a ‘healing’ environment

“I hope the garden bed’s message is if you reconnect with nature through a garden it can lift your spirits, restore your senses and open your heart.”

Mrs Doxey also won a silver medal at the prestigious Chelsea Florist of the Year competition.

The flower show starts today and ends on Saturday.
