Nottingham Forest have announced the appointment of former MP Michael Dugher to its board of directors as previous chairman Tom Cartledge ends his involvement with the club.
Mr Cartledge stepped down as chairman of the board last month to focus his time on running his family business, but at the time remained a board member.
Mr Cartledge was appointed chairman in August 2023 and the club survived the threat of relegation in his first season.
He is Chief Executive of family business Handley House, the parent company of three design businesses, including architectural and design firm Benoy.
In a statement released on Tuesday (November 26), Forest said Mr Cartledge is now also leaving the board position.
Former Member of Parliament Michael Dugher has previously spent three decades in government and public affairs and has worked as Chief Spokesman for former Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
Mr Dugher stepped down from Parliament in 2017 and has since been a senior advisor at a number of firms.
He has supported Forest for over 30 years and was previously a board member of the Nottingham Forest Community Trust.
Chairman Nicholas Randall KC said: “We are delighted to welcome Michael to our Board of Directors. He is an outstanding candidate as well as fan of the Club.
“He joins us at a very exciting time both on and off the field and we look forward to working with him.”
Michael Dugher said: “As a massive Forest fan, to be asked join the board of the greatest football club on planet earth is a huge honour and a privilege.
“I hope I can use some of my experience to help the owners and the board continue to build the club from strength to strength.”
