Nottingham Forest boss Freedman speaks ahead of Charlton encounter

Nottingham Forest head to Charlton on a fine run of form – with manager Dougie Freedman unbeaten in all six of his games in charge at the club.

However, despite Forest being the Championship’s current form side, the manager is wary of 12th-placed Charlton’s threat.

Freedman said: “They have had an up and down season but I think that they have started to pick up a few results that we have got to be very aware of.”

When the teams met earlier this season in December, the result ended in a 1-1 stalemate.

The Addicks are also unbeaten in their last three encounter’s with Forest, winning once and drawing twice.

Forest head to The Valley following a resounding 3-0 win away to Reading, and with no new injuries concerns, they could field the same line-up that swept aside last weekend’s opposition.

Freedman hailed the team’s current form and how well equipped they are when it comes to overcoming setbacks in big games.

Play-offs

With the Reds in resurgent form, there have been murmurs of a potential push for the play-offs in the latter stages of this campaign.

Freedman, speaking at the Forest news conference, dismissed any talk of catching the play-off spots as there would be too much ground to make up.

He said: “I did not spend my Sunday looking at promotion – I spent it with the family, 10 per cent of it thinking about how we can win the Charlton game.

I feel that the teams above us are just too far away.

Having won five out of their last, Freedman’s men are brimming with confidence – something which may not have been as evident during the tail end of Stuart Pearce’s tenure at the City Ground.

The manager also spoke about the positive atmosphere within the club at this time of the season.
