Nottingham Forest have beaten off stiff competition to secure Arsenal’s Chuba Akpom on loan until May 31.

A host of Championship clubs had been clamouring for the signature of the 19-year-old forward before the closure of the loan window but Dougie Freedman’s side eventually completed the deal on Thursday, March 26.

Akpom has been on the fringes of the Arsenal squad this season, making seven appearances for the Gunners this campaign.

The striker is currently with the England Under 20s camp where he scored a penalty in their win over Mexico on Wednesday, March 25.

He could make his Forest debut in the Good Friday clash against play-off hopefuls Wolves.

Upon signing the loan deal, Akpom tweeted:
