Mark Warburton has been sacked by Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest have sacked manager Mark Warburton with academy manager Gary Brazil appointed as caretaker.

Warburton was appointed as the Reds boss on March 14 and guided the Reds to a 2-2 home draw against Derby in his first match in charge.

However after less than 10 months in charge, Warburton’s contract has been terminated with immediate effect.

Assistant manager David Weir also had his contract terminated and chief scout Frank McParland has left the club.

Gary Brazil took charge as caretaker manager this morning and will be in the dugout as the Reds travel to Leeds United tomorrow (Monday January 1 2018).

Nottingham Forest have picked up one point from their last four games in the Sky Bet Championship.

The Reds currently sit 14th in the table on 31 points – 10 points off the play-off spots and nine above the relegation places.

The full statement from Nottingham Forest said: “Nottingham Forest can confirm the contracts of Mark Warburton and David Weir have been terminated with immediate effect.

“The club can also confirm that Frank McParland has left the club.

“Academy manager Gary Brazil has been appointed caretaker manager and has assumed his new duties this morning.

“The club would like to thank Mark, David and Frank for all their efforts during their time at the City Ground.”
