Nottingham Girls’ High School was evacuated after it received a hoax bomb threat.

A cordon was put in place on Forest Road East at the junction with Mansfield Road at about 9am on Thursday.

Searches confirmed that there were no devices

A spokeman for Notts Police said: “We received a call from the school indicating there may have been a bomb in there.

“We take things like this very seriously even if we suspect it may be a hoax. We ensured that the place was evacuated and put a cordon in place and closed the road.

“We conducted a thorough search of all the buildings on site.

“Searches confirmed that there were no devices and it was safe for staff and pupils to return to the school.”

The school issued the following statement on its website: “Parents were informed of the situation as soon as possible. The School has measured and well-rehearsed procedures for dealing with these sorts of incidents, and our staff and girls handled the situation in a composed and calm way.

“Our priority is always the safety of our girls and staff and we take these sorts of threats seriously.”

The road is now open again.
