Prize-winning international writers will join a mix of national and local names at Nottingham Poetry Festival.
The event is appearing for the first time this week and runs from today until Thursday, December 3.
More than 30 poets are appearing at eleven venues across the city, including prize-winning Guyanese poets John Agard and Grace Nichols.
The line-up also includes one of the most revered poets of his generation Lemn Sissay MBE, acclaimed Liverpool poet Brian Patten, Luke Wright and Nottingham collective The Mouthy Poets.
Nottingham-born writer Henry Normal (pictured above) is also taking part.
Normal set up Baby Cow Productions with Steve Coogan in 1999 and has produced film and TV hits Alan Partridge Alpha Papa, the Oscar-nominated Philomena, Gavin and Stacey, as well as co-writing TV shows the Royle Family and the Mrs Merton Show.
He is also a published poet and helped organise the festival.
He said: “The festival’s original three-day programme has expanded as a result of Nottingham’s passion for poetry.
“There is a vibrant community here who have been eager to get involved and we hope this festival helps bring it together to celebrate the best of the national and local poetry scene”.
