Nottingham student Zac loses battle against two forms of cancer

A Nottingham student who inspired thousands of people with his fight against two forms of cancer has lost his battle with the disease.

Zac Forskitt, 20, died on Sunday evening, a post on his campaign website said.

The Nottingham Trent student had a germ cell tumour in his chest as well as an aggressive form of leukaemia, and was believed to be one of just two people in the world fighting both conditions at the same time.

He was focus of the BacZac campaign, which was founded to raise awareness of his condition and help support his famiy.

 

Zac inspired so many of us

The statement on the campaign website posted on Sunday read: “Zac passed away very peacefully tonight 7.55pm, with his family around him.

“The family have been overwhelmed by your messages of support and the love that you have shown them over the last few months.

“Our thoughts and prayers go to Jason, Helen and Beth – Zac inspired so many of us and his bravery and courage will stay with us forever.”

He received thousands of goodwill messages from those who followed his journey including Northampton Saints and England rugby international Ben Foden, who Tweeted about the sad news.

One day before his death an announcement on the website stated that Zac’s home had been “broken in to and burgled”.
