Nottingham’s Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) has revealed its LocAle pub of the year which must stock a locally brewed beer or cider.

The Star Inn in Beeston has been awarded the 2017 gong after being one of 12 finalists shortlisted.

Judges visited the shortlisted pubs throughout June and July awarding scores for the quality and the range of locally produced beers and ciders.

Pubs are eligible to be nominated if they have LocAle accreditation, which means the pub stocks a beer or cider that’s made within 20 miles of the pub.

Mick Courtney, LocAle officer for Nottingham CAMRA, said: “As one would expect, all the finalists were high quality pubs.

“This showed after each one had won through the preliminary round and the winner therefore had to be outstanding.”

Pubs were nominated by members of the public based on their geographical location across Nottinghamshire to produce 12 finalists.

The 12 finalists

  • White Lion, Swingate
  • Gate Inn, Awsworth
  • Victoria Hotel, Beeston
  • Star, Beeston
  • Frame Breakers, Ruddington
  • Poppy & Pint
  • Robin Hood and Little John, Arnold
  • Bread & Bitter, Mapperley Plains
  • King William IV, Sneinton
