Nottinghamshire man charged with 1990 city rape

A man will appear in court on Friday charged with a rape committed in Nottingham almost 26 years ago.

Mark Carnelley, 51, of Ambleside, Gamston, is charged with a single count of rape of a 25-year-old woman in Bluecoat Close in the city.

It is said to have happened at around 11.30pm on September 14 1990.

Notts Police said Following a fresh examination of evidence in the case in 2015, Carnelley was arrested in November and charged last month.

He will appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
