Nottinghamshire Police investigate bag snatching: Do you know this man?

Officers who are investigating two bag snatch incidents in the Sherwood area have issued an image of a man they would like to speak to.

Notts TV News have reported that an appeal for information had been launched by Nottinghamshire Police in an attempt to identify the man in the above image.

The appeal comes after a 67-year-old woman was knocked to the floor in Daybrook Road on Thursday, April 9 when an offender stole her shopping bag.

Two days later a bag was snatched from an 85-year-old woman on Compton Road at the junction of Victoria Road shortly after 4pm on Saturday, April 11.

Police have now issued a close-up image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

Positive response

“Thanks to the very positive response to our initial appeal to the public about these two incidents, we are following a number of promising lines of enquiry,” said Detective Inspector Melanie Crutchley.

“We are also working with the local neighbourhood policing team to ensure there are additional patrols in the area at key times during the day, helping to provide reassurance to shoppers and local residents who may be concerned about this.

“We are still keeping an open mind as to whether the incidents are linked.”

Police say the man they would like to trace was seen in the area around the time of the first incident on Thursday, and was wearing an Adidas tracksuit and trainers and a red cap.

If you recognise the man in the picture, please telephone Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
