Notts County ‘focused for Exeter game’ despite off-field turbulence

Jamie Fullarton says despite off-field distractions Notts County’s players ‘remain focused’ and hope to win their first home game of his reign when they take on Exeter City.

No Tuesday game this week meant Notts were able to spend more time on the training ground which the manager says is a positive. But the Scot is looking forward to getting back on the pitch, adding its the games you work hard for not the training.

Exeter have had a good run of form recently in the league and come into Saturday’s game feeling confident. The Grecians consistency is something that has caught The Notts boss’s eye.

The mentality is strong

Fullarton wants his players to put in a performance that the fans are ‘engaged and encouraged’ by as they haven’t had a lot to sing about since his arrival, particularly at homr.

“We work hard and tirelessly to make sure the mentality is strong to be able to cope with that” Fullarton said, with home wins having proved hard to come by so far in his tenure, but he feels the players are strong enough to cope with the pressure.

Roy Carroll is about to go away on international duty with Northern Ireland and Scott Loach has replaced him in the starting eleven in the the last three fixtures. The former Ipswich man played well and Fullarton said the Magpies are ‘working hard to create competition’

This week saw the club’s case with the HMRC adjourned until the 26th of April. With businessman Alan Hardy showing a strong interest in buying the Magpies, but Jamie Fullarton said it won’t distract the players as they are focused on their game this weekend.

“My role within the group is to focus and guide the players” said the Magpies boss in regards to the off field issues and the possible selling of the club.
