Alassana Jatta continued his impressive start to the season as Notts County made it back-to-back wins at Meadow Lane when they beat Harrogate Town.

The Pies continued their push for promotion with a 1-0 win against 17th-place Harrogate, who have struggled for goals this season.

Notts head coach Stuart Maynard made four changes to the side that drew 1-1 away at Barrow on Tuesday.

Dan Crowley was forced to sit out due to a minor knock with Jevani Brown making his first league start. Josh Martin also replaced Kellan Gordon.

Jacob Bedeau returned to the side with George Abbott, as the duo replaced Rod McDonald and Jack Hinchy.

County dominated the opening exchanges with chances falling to David McGoldrick and Jatta – whose efforts failed to find the target.

The Magpies continued to probe but failed to make their dominance count as they went into half-time at 0-0.

However, 13 minutes into the second half, County found the breakthrough as Nick Tsaroulla’s cross was finished off by Alassana Jatta, with the Gambian netting his sixth of the season.

The Pies continued to dominate until Harrogate began pushing for an equaliser with Town’s Matty Daly going close from 20 yards.

Notts held on to push the side back into the top three.

After the game, Stuart Maynard said: “I thought we were excellent, dominant after the schedule that we’ve just come out of our energy levels were incredible.

“I think 1-0 is not the true reflection on the way the game went I thought if we would have won by four or five I think you could look at it and say it was a fair result.

Midfielders Scott Robertson and Sam Austin missed out through injury. Austin was close to a return with Robertson a bit further behind in his recovery, Maynard said.

Next time out, County play Alfreton Town in the FA Cup first round proper – with the game kicking off at 7.45pm at Meadow Lane on Friday (November 1).
