Notts County sign Jack Barmby

Notts County have signed Jack Barmby on loan from Leicester City.

The 20-year-old can play as a midfielder or striker and is the son of former England international Nick Barmby.

The Magpies confirmed his arrival this afternoon, in a deal lasting until November with a view to an extension.

He said: “It’s a big club, I don’t believe they should be in League Two, and I live in Nottingham so it’s perfect for me.

“I want to just play football, and first team football.”

He added the depth of experience in the squad, which includes the likes of Mike Edwards and Alan Smith, will benefit his development.

“I came to watch the game on Tuesday and I thought they looked comfortable. They’ve got so much experience and I can learn from that.

“Mid-table is not a bad position to be in, get a few more wins and we will be up there.”

He will go straight into the squad for Saturday’s visit of York to Meadow Lane.
