Nottingham musicians and artists are being given the chance to perform alongside chart-toppers Jess Glynne and The Human League in a competition which will see the winner open this year’s Splendour Festival.
The Future Sound of Nottingham is back for its eighth year and will give a local act the chance to perform in front of 20,000 people, and boost their music career with help and advice to push their work further.
The competition welcomes local bands and artists of all genres to send in their demos to be judged by a panel of leading music industry experts.
Organised by NUSIC, the competition aims to support unsigned musicians in the county to get their big break.
Mark Del, of NUSIC, said: “The Future Sound of Nottingham presents Notts musicians with several huge opportunities.
“From playing Rock City’s main stage, a gig many have called ‘the best night of their lives’, to getting their music in front of industry people who can help them make a living doing what they love.”
Last year’s winners, Suspect Alibi are now ready to release their brand new single in May.
This year’s Splendour festival, will take place on Sunday July 23 at Wollaton Hall.
Entries for the first round close on Monday May 2, and finalists will battle it out in Rock City on Sunday June 19, where the winners will be decided by the public and an independent panel of judges.

George Akins of DHP Family, which runs Splendour, said: “Once again we’re delighted to be working alongside NUSIC in a search to find Nottinghamshire’s best talent, with a unique opportunity to perform on stage at Splendour next to national and international acts. The county has some truly talented stars.”
