Nottinghamshire YMCA will be collecting their cheque this week after Nottingham Trent University’s Women’s Rugby Team slept outside to raise money for them and Guide Dogs.
A total of 24 members of NTU’s Women’s Rugby Team wrapped up to sleep outside their student union to raise money to help homeless people in Nottinghamshire move towards independent living.
The money is going to be split between Nottinghamshire YMCA and Guide Dogs.
Nottinghamshire YMCA will be collecting their half of the money on Thursday March 4 at NTU’s Clifton Campus after the women’s rugby team play De Montfort University.
This is the second year that the team have slept outside to support their local YMCA and organisers of the event, Roberta Jenkins and Nayo Akinyele, hope the sleep out will continue to be an annual event.
Roberta, President of NTU Women’s Rugby thanked all those who supported the team’s efforts.
She said:
We really love being able to raise enough money to make a real difference to people’s lives.
“We had a great night, I am so pleased with the amount we have managed to raise.”
