Comedian and Chuckle Brother Paul Chuckle has said ghosts have returned to his Nottinghamshire home after being driven away during a paranormal TV series.
Paul, whose brother and TV comedy partner Barry died aged 76 in 2018, has previously spoken of his belief in spirits and has tried to contact his late brother.
Reports of a ghost in Paul’s rural barn conversion home, near Retford, are however presumed to related to an infamous murderer named Charles Peace.
At a pantomime launch for Peter Pan at Nottingham’s Theatre Royal on Monday (September 30) Paul said he and his wife had noticed their house was haunted shortly after moving in in 2022.
Paul, whose real name is Paul Elliott, managed to dispense with the ghost for a while but says it has now returned.
He said: “The house was definitely haunted, they got rid of them for a while, but they’re back would you believe.”
He says paranormal activity is common in the house: “We came in one day, we had gone to the shops and the tap was running full belt and it wasn’t when we left.
“That next morning another tap was running and the washing machine had moved out as if it had been on and it hadn’t.
“So they’re back.”
Paul also spoke about the death of his brother: “Barry will be here with me [for the Panto].
“He’s always here with me and he’ll be loved and love it to be back in Nottingham as well.”
In 2023 Paul invited a team of paranormal investigators from the TV show Celebrity Help! My House Is Haunted over to his home near Retford.
Historian Jayne Harris later suggested the building had a link to Charles Peace, a notorious 19th century burglar and murderer from Sheffield who was executed in Leeds in 1879.
