Nottingham artist Philip George is one of the ten nominees up for best British Single at the BRIT Awards on Wednesday night.
The 22-year-old Chilwell house producer will have to beat household names such as Adele, Ellie Goulding and James Bay to claim the prize with his debut single ‘Wish You Were Mine’.
The single was released on December 28 2014 and charted highest at number two, below Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson’s ‘Uptown Funk,’ which won the Best British single last year.
Video: Philip George speaks to Notts TV about how he broke through thanks to the internet
Speaking to Notts TV last month, Philip George said: “It all started through a source called Soundcloud and I put ‘Wish You Were Mine’ up to see if people liked it and it blew up online over the past two years.
“I wrote it when I first got into house music and that’s probably the first song I made in the deep house scene and it’s gone big.
“If I went to try and do it again I don’t think I could!”
