Nottinghamshire enjoyed a colourful sky as the sun went down on Sunday, producing some stunning images of an orange aura.
And although the views make for amazing social media photographs – experts say they are actually in part caused by air pollution.
Dan Brown, an astronomy lecturer at Nottingham Trent University, said: “What we’re getting at the moment is a high-pressure situation – we’re getting stable weather, meaning you don’t have strong winds or rain washing and clearing the atmosphere.
“It becomes more dusty – meaning even more light is swallowed out. The dust and pollution hangs around a bit more, it starts absorbing blue light and you get these gorgeous red and pink displays.”
We asked viewers to submit their best pictures of the sunset – if you have a photograph you’d like to share email [email protected] tweet @Notts_TV or visit our Facebook page.
