Police were called to examine a suitcase left outside a Nottingham Trent University building.
Notts Police officers were initially called to the scene on Shakespeare Street at 4pm on Thursday (August 3) where a green suitcase could be seen against a wall on the pavement.
Security staff, accompanied by a PCSO, stopped people from walking on a part of the street as a precaution.
A spokesperson for Notts Police said: “We were called to Shakespeare Street at around 4pm.
“Nothing at this stage suggests it is suspicious.”
A spokesman for Nottingham Trent University said staff worked with Notts Police on the incident.
The case is outside 50 Shakespeare Street, a Grade II listed building bought by the university in 2014 and converted into offices and meeting rooms for administration.
It was later removed by police and found to contain nothing suspicious.
