Police are at the scene of a “multi-vehicle” collision on the A52 Radcliffe Road in Nottinghamshire.
National Highways East Midlands confirmed the incident happened at 8.47am on Tuesday, March 25, causing miles of tailbacks and significant delays into the city centre.
In a statement, a spokesperson said: “There are reports of a multi-vehicle collision on the A52 westbound between the A46 and A6011”.
The highways agency added Nottinghamshire Police were in attendance and advised drivers to allow extra time for their journey due to three miles of congestion.
A witness at the scene says four vehicles were involved in the collision, which they described as a ‘pile-up’.
AA Roadwatch, which monitors traffic on motorways and key routes across the UK, added the collision was causing congestion up to the Bingham Interchange.
