Radford man jailed for Nottingham bar knife attack

A 21-year-old man has been jailed for four years after stabbing a doorman and a customer at Nottingham nightclub, BZR.

Jordan Hamilton, who has no previous convictions, was in a group of three men who attacked staff at the BZR bar on Easter Monday (April 6) this year.

He left one of his victims needing surgery for a serious injury to his back and the other with stab wounds to his leg.

BZR was located in the Lace Market before it shut down. The popular club’s licence was revoked following the incident involving Hamilton.

Hamilton, of Norton Street in Radford, received a four-year sentence for wounding with intent and a further year for another count of wounding to run concurrently.

Two other people were convicted for their part in the incident.

Robert Watson, 37, was jailed for 20 months for grievous bodily harm after he attacked another doorman that night.

James Savage, 29, was found guilty of causing actual bodily harm to two door staff but is yet to be sentenced.

The man who led the investigation, Detective Sergeant Rob Wells said: “These three individuals played a part in a large scale disorder incident that occurred in the city centre during a busy Bank Holiday.”

Hamilton has the next four years to consider how a thoughtless action has dramatically changed the course of his life.

“Jordan Hamilton, a young man with no convictions and of previous good character, chose to arm himself with a knife and used it to cause injury to two people, one of whom was seriously injured and is still suffering the effects of the assault.

“In doing so, Hamilton gave no thought to the consequences of his actions. He now has the next four years to consider how a thoughtless action has dramatically changed the course of his life.”
