Andy Charty who runs the Ghurka Kitchen in Bilborough has raised money for his home town Kathmandu in Nepal.

On May 4 he began fundraising at his restaurant to raise money with the public for the Nepal earthquake victims.

The Nottingham business owner managed to raise an amazing £16,000 from his restaurant car park, and plans to raise much more.

I had to do something from the heart.

The funds raised were done by selling cakes, food and Hena Mendhi and a car show with Harley Davidsons. Andy’s top prize on the raffle was his beloved Ducati motorbike which sold for £10,000.

Mr Charty’s donation has enabled those in Nepal to build temporary shelter, food and have access to a better basic daily living.

Andy began fundraising after the Nepal earthquake struck his home town, Kathmandu in May this year. Andy’s plan is to keep fundraising to give something back to his birth place.
