Woman, 23, dies in serious crash near Southwell

A man has been charged by police, over a number of public order incidents.

A woman has died and a man has been arrested after a serious crash near Southwell.

Emergency crews were called at 12.30am to the incident on Southwell Road between High Cross and Thurgarton Village.

One car was involved with a driver and single passenger.

The passenger, a 23-year-old woman, died at the scene.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody.

Southwell Road was closed for most of the morning while police examined the scene of the accident.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said: “Investigators would be interested to speak to anyone who might have seen anything at the time. It is important to note the incident occurred before the clocks went back.”
