A pedestrian has died and another has been taken to the Queens Medical Centre with serious injuries after a crash on Woodthorpe Drive.
One vehicle was involved in the incident, the car driver has been taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the car has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Several police cars and three ambulances were called to the scene.
Woodthorpe Drive is still closed off completely between Mansfield Road and Mapperley Plains.
Drivers are being urged to avoid the area and investigators are examining the scene.
Officers have not released any more details about those involved.
