Video: Dan talks to Notts TV’s Christian Hewgill about why TT riding is worth the risks
It’s one of the world’s most dangerous forms of motorsport – but Notts man Dan Hegarty loves putting himself on the front line.
The TT rider from Radcliffe-on-Trent started out in 2003 on a 250 Kawasaki and is now testing himself against the best in the business and appearing in its most famous event – the Isle of Man TT.
His love of the thrill of the race is part of this week’s episode of Sports Week on Notts TV.
He said: “It’s a life commitment. On the Isle of Man there’s just under 38 miles on the course is and you face stone bridges, walls, and you can do over 200 different corners on the circuit.
“Your average speed can be 128.5 mph it is exhilierating but dangerous – you are putting your life in your own hands.
“But it’s the ultimate test for me as a motorbike racer.”
