A resident, who asked not to to be named, said: “It used to be safe around here but it’s getting scary now.

“All this was cordoned off and you weren’t allowed to bring your dogs or even walk up this way on Saturday.

“The police were here all day on Sunday and all of Sunday evening.”

Police cordoned off the park until Monday morning.

Wendy Martin, 61, of John Quinn Court, said the surrounding streets are a ‘quiet area’ and the weekend’s incident is a ‘one off’.

Another called for the instalment of CCTV cameras around the park.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Notts Police on 101, quoting incident number 834 of May 7.
